We are excited to announce that this year’s Second Life Community Convention will be held at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers in Boston, MA on August 13-15, 2010!
We look forward to exciting activities, events, musical performances, machinima screenings, panels, workshops, and much more to share the abundant creativity and specialized knowledge of Second Life residents. But the convention is more than just what we plan – the convention is also what you make it, so plan to bring something to share with the community!
Who should attend SLCC
The Second Life Community Convention is a conference organized for Second Life residents by Second Life residents, including teens – there’s something for everyone! Content creators, artists, and musicians attend to share ideas, get creative, and learn new techniques from the pros. Enterprise users and businesses discuss strategies for success and techniques for maximum ROI. Educators present research, best practices, and workshops. The list goes on and on! From casual users, community groups, and roleplayers to the serious side of Second Life, come to the conference to learn, share, and network with the real people behind the avatars!
Be sure to check out the information about all seven tracks: Business & Enterprise, Education & Research, Live Music & Performances, Government & Nonprofits, Health & Support, Fashion & Design, Communities & Social
And don’t forget to Submit a Proposal to share YOUR great Second Life projects!
Call for Volunteer Organizers
The Second Life Community Convention is truly powered by and for Second Life residents – without volunteers there would be no convention at all!
Volunteers in Boston
SLCC Volunteers are convention attendees who are committed to making the convention a true community experience while helping to ensure the event runs smoothly. Volunteers help with many important aspects of the convention including registration assistance, helping direct convention flow and attendees, assisting in track and content management, along with many of the “on the ground” logistical items necessary for the convention.

Registration & Lodging
Convention organizers do their very best to keep the cost of the convention affordable for as many people as possible. To stay focused on a high quality event, we’re limiting ticket sales this year to 350 attendees. This allows us to budget more effectively and keep our attention on the important details like a great venue, free internet access, affordable meals, and the best three days you can spend networking and learning with friends and colleagues from all over the grid.
Conference Registration
We hope to have a sell-out crowd this year and to help reduce costs, we’ve got the first 50 tickets on sale!
- Early Bird Special Discount of $185! (Limit 50 tickets)
- Early Registration price of $230 will go into effect when the Early Bird Special tickets run out, through July 3rd.
- Regular Registration of $260 will go into effect on July 4, 2010.
Be sure to register soon for the best prices!
Venue & Lodging
We’ve negotiated a great deal with the Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers where the Second Life Community Convention 2010 will be held. As part of our special package, attendees get reduced room rates of $149 per night – the lowest ever offered at SLCC! We’ve also negotiated free internet access in rooms reserved in our block – and free wifi in the convention space!
We encourage SLCC attendees to stay at the Boston Park Plaza Hotel & Towers to help us meet our room commitments, which helped us negotiate for all the great things we can offer. If you’re concerned about cost, we’ve also created a page to Find Roomates and Carpools to help attendees connect with one another, and we’ve compiled a great list of things to do In and Around Boston for those who may want to do some sightseeing while they’re in town.
We’re sure there will be more information and updates soon, so stay tuned! Thank you for your support of the Second Life Community Convention, we look forward to a great convention – and we hope to see you in Boston!
