California Legacy – From Out-of-Print Literature to Modern Machinima – Workshop

Draxtor Despres (Bernhard Drax in RL), with the help of Quill Wilber, Reed Steamroller and Gianna Borgnine, will be organizing this incredible workshop meant to explain the history and purpose of Californian Legacy and how machinima presentations have become a unique way to link cutting-edge technology with literature and performance and give a new audience eager to learn about California’s history and literature a place to meet and converse. Draxtor Despres writes music for TV, commercials and feature film. His orchestral score for the Disney comedy “Sommer” gained critical acclaim in Germany as the film remained among the top ten for 4 consecutive months in 2008. In the virtual world “Second Life” Bernhard regularly files machinima reportages on social and political issues. His story on virtual Guantanamo won the 2008 Human Rights Media Awards from internews France. Through his production company draxtor.com, he has delivered promotional machinima for clients such as Manpower Inc., CommerzBank and Nokia.

During this workshop, machinima production will be broken down and discussed at every step. This workshop will also include an opportunity for the audience to participate in the production of a brand new segment, filmed ON THE SPOT! So, whoever is ready, willing & able can play a role in the production.
