Gentle Heron will be leading the workshop “SL Students with Disabilities- Use of Assistive Technologies” on Friday, August 14th from 10 am – 11:30 am. This workshop description is:
Educators are increasingly used to working with students who have disabilities and use assistive technology in their RL class offerings. These students face different kinds of barriers to learning when classes are offered through SL. Disabilities that cause particular difficulties in SL are upper extremity, hearing, and print impairments. Some assistive technologies that work in RL won’t work inside SL. This workshop will allow participants to experience some of those barriers and learn about solutions presently available to students in their SL classes.
