EdTrack State of Affairs – What you need to know and bring!!!

Not that we are looking for a repeat of “The Great Chicago Router Crash of 07″ but this is a conference on the state of virtual education and community a la Second Life. To that end, many of the Education Track presentations this year are focusing on professional development, tools, and best practices. We are both anticipating that you will be up, out of your seats, and yes *gasp* actually talking with your neighbours in the seat next to you through a whole series of interactive presentations where you are an integral part of the presentation experience.

Experiential – tacit based learning is the order of the day and that means that some portions of the program will be run both live and inside Second Life. So don’t be afriad to bring those laptops.  Pens, pencils, crayons, playdoh(tm), rulers anything but permanent markers else we make you stay after school to clean it up :-)

We have a stunning line-up of presenters all of which can be found on this page here.

And don’t forget that we have two (2) interactive mash-ups where you have opportunities to present even if you didn’t get a chance to sign-up before the conference.

SLED 5 by 5 is an open invitiation to all educators to come and showcase your efforts in Second Life. What your organization has been doing and what you are planning for the furture. Each presenter has 10 minutes to showcase up to 5 slides or 5 minutes of video plus Q&A. It is an open format – signup at http://tr.im/u9WH

Speed Geek Mentoring – Do you have a particular Second Life skill or expertise? Got a cool tool or an innovative application you want to show off? Sign up for the SLCC Speed Geek! If you’re bringing a laptop to the conference, you can sign up to claim a table to host your demo. Session attendees go from table to table to watch demos, ask questions and share information. This session should be a great opportunity to make contacts and talk in depth with SL education experts! Use this form to sign up: http://u.nu/4n5n

Looking forward to seeing you all in San Francisco.
