JanythKU Techsan is leading the workshop “The Compelling Case for Online Learning in Second Life” on Friday, August 14th, from 2 – 3:30 pm. The description for this workshop is:
Online instruction continues to be the wave of the future. However, online educators are often frustrated by the lack of student participation in online discussions and activities. Second Life (SL) offers a compelling alternative. In SL students and teachers meet face to face and engage in activities that help forge those personal bonds that make learning so effective. Designing activities that encourage this bonding results in classes that become communities and students who are engaged and satisfied with the learning experience. This session will compare bonding that occurs in physical classrooms with the bonds that are formed in online classes in Second Life. A discussion on how to use Second Life to create those all-important, personal connections and experiences will be included as well.
Hi, the lack of participation may be due to lack of time. I admire the initiative for more creative online interaction, but hopefully together with it, a short course in time management was given and introduction to “productivity tools.”
There are many applications in the internet, but hopefully you would also take time to consider MySpeed as part of the tools for your review. Thank you.
