As the ISTE SL tour guide for the past year and a half, I have explored and led other educators to hundreds of educationally significant SL sims. And yet there are many more. The Salamander Wiki “a folksonomy of practical and theoretical applications, builds and designs in the Virtual World of Second Life for the purposes of teaching and learning” offers educators a place to post, find and evaluate the educational possibilities of existing sims. In this presentation I will share my experiences highlighting many of my favorite educational sims while explaining how I think they might be used. The collaborative component involves participants sharing their top sims, and as a group contributing to the body of information stored at Salamander Wiki. We will help each other and the whole educational community by producing a tangible product – listings and reviews of our top choices.
