This presentation will be a live demo of Meerkat, a new Open Source viewer for Second Life and other virtual worlds. Lead by Darwin Babbage, this demo will take place on Friday, August 14th from 3:30 to 5pm. The demonstration will cover how to use Meerkat and its advantages over the default Linden viewer, with a focus on the benefits to Second Life educators and content creators. We will show you how to use Meerkat to improve your productivity in creating new content as well as maintaining control of the content that you already own. We will spend some time discussing how new and advanced viewer controls allow educators (and administrators) to efficiently mange sim contents and students. We will also show how Meerkat can enable you to build and test content in non-Linden virtual worlds such as OpenSim, with features such as offline building, cross grid teleportation and content transfers between OpenSim and Second Life grids. Finally, we will show a few of the features that OpenSim enables that are not yet present in Second Life.
