The Second Life Community Convention 2011 will take place at The Oakland Marriott City Center from August 12 – 14, 2011. When making your travel plans, note that ticket prices for air fare and trains are likely to be cheaper the earlier you make your reservations. Planes

There are two airports in close proximity to the Oakland Marriott City Center – San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and the Oakland International Airport (OAK).  You should check flight costs to both airports to see which flight will be cheaper, but in our experience, flights into San Francisco (SFO) seem generally cheaper than flights into Oakland (OAK).

Oakland International Airport (OAK)

The Oakland International Airport (OAK) is 8 miles from the Oakland Marriott City Center.  The hotel does not provide shuttle service, you will need to arrange your own transport. The hotel reports that the City Express Shuttle is about $28 one way and taxi fare from the OAK airport is approximately $40 one way.  See the BART information below for mass transit options from this airport.

San Francisco International Airport (SFO)

The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is 26 miles from the Oakland Marriott City Center.  The hotel does not provide shuttle service, you will need to arrange your own transport. The hotel reports that the Bayporter Shuttle Service is about $35 one way and taxi fare from the SFO airport is approximately $80 one way.  See the BART information below for mass transit options from this airport.

Buses/Subway – Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART)

• The closest BART station is 170 feet from the hotel at the 12th Street Oakland City Center BART Station.
